ABOUT NMBC
Greater New Macedonia Baptist Church is an urban/ rural church, which stands on the corner of Sixth and Young Streets in Pocomoke City, Md. The church meets weekly at 9AM for Sunday School (on the conference line), 11AM for Morning Worship, 7PM each Tuesday for Bible Study (virtually), 7PM each Thursday for “A Time for Prayer” (on the conference line) and each year for Vacation Bible School.
The Church was built in the 1890's, improved in 1917, torn down and rebuilt in 1990 at the same location. At that time, the name was changed from Macedonia Baptist Church to New Macedonia Baptist Church. Since its origin in the 1890’s, it has had 9 former pastors: Reverends J.W. Taylor, J.H. Dodson, J.W. White, Charles Finney, George Brown, W.W. Gilchrist, Wilbert W. Hall, R.L. Jackson, and Bishop Isaac Jenkins Sr. The 10th and current Pastor is Pastor Jermaine C. Scott, Sr.
In the midst of a pandemic New Macedonia Baptist Church continued to navigate through and was in full operation having services virtually for a while before moving in the parking lot for over a year and doing bible study virtually. During this time the church was completely remodeled. In August 2021 the church was reopened for indoor services again with mask, social distancing, temperature checks and a weekly log New Macedonia Baptist Church was able to continue to have services every Sunday and then started doing Bible Study virtually. In 2024 New Macedonia Baptist Church was rebranded to Greater New Macedonia Baptist Church and continues striving to move forward with growth in every area as well as continuing to further do the work for the community.
Greater New Macedonia Baptist Church makes room for all people from every social and economic strata. Its major objective is to glorify God, Preach His Word, and build a family of passionate followers of JESUS CHRIST. Greater New Macedonia Baptist Church is a CHURCH ON THE GROW.
